Top Tips For Beginner Guitarists

There are a lot of things that you have to take into account when you're up to buy a bass guitar, especially if it's your first bass. The bass guitar is obviously different than your usual six-stringed guitar, and as such you will not be jumping around as actively as your other band mates if you are the bassist. That being said, here are a few things you need to consider.

New Details Emerge About Britney Spears’s New Album

Last night we FINALLY got confirmation that Hold It Against Me, the first single from Britney Spears‘s new album (due out in March), will be released next week (WOOT!) and today we are hearing a lot more information about her album as a whole. The New York Post is reporting all sorts of news about [...]

At LONG last, David and I got to see the amazing new film Blue Valentine, which stars Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, last night here in LA and I am happy to report that the movie was WELL worth the wait. David and I met up with our BFFs Darion and Emma at the ArcLight in Hollywood, CA for the showing … and hands down, we all loved it entirely.

Without question, Blue Valentine is a beautiful and painful movie to watch. Without the need for special effects, 3D or big action scenes, BV is able to deliver one of the most powerful films released this year. The storyline of the film never ventures outside of the simple story of a long love affair between who people, complete with hills and valleys of happiness and despair. I was quite taken with how meaty the film is considering how simple-sounding the plot actually is. The story jumps between two opposing time periods … showcasing times of extreme happiness and extreme sadness in the relationship. Williams and Gosling expertly portray these very real characters in such a way that it’s hard to believe they were acting. Raw, real … painfully normalBlue Valentine is just a stunning portrait of one ordinary couple’s complicated life. There has been much talk about how the film got slapped with an NC-17 rating but you can forget all about that bullshizz. There is nothing pornographic in this film … it’s just a stark look at the good and bad things about love. I loved this film, no question. It’s not a happy film but it’s one that I think y’all should check out.

Tonight, I’m gettin’ in my car and I’m trekkin’ down South to San Diego to see the Dresden Dolls in concert. It’s been a long time since I’ve roadtripped for a concert but I’m really excited to see the band LIVE for the first time. It should be a blast :)

Jive Records Confirms The Release Of Britney Spears’s New Single? [UPDATE]

On Wednesday we learned the EXCITING news, from Entertainment Weekly magazine, that our dear Britney Spears will be releasing the first single from her new album (due out in March) next Friday January, 7. But because so much incorrect information has been going around regarding Britney‘s new album, many people are choosing not to believe [...]

On Tuesday I posted my Top Albums of 2010 and yesterday I was planning to post my list of my fave films of the year … but I had to push back one day so I could see one more film to determine if it was worthy of making my Top 10 list. And so, without further ado, here is my personal list of the Top Movies of 2010.

Number 10Piranha 3D:

The B-Movie was back this year and it came in the form of the hilariously silly yet entirely entertaining film Piranha 3D. No movie this year had more blood, boobs and severed penis than Piranha 3D … which, of course, means that the film should be lauded in some small way. While the serious, well-acted, well-written, incredibly creative films will be honored by the big movie award ceremonies next year, I think there is something to be said for the silly “popcorn movies” that manage to entertain for 90 minutes in the most frivolously fun way. Piranha 3D is no cinematic masterpiece … but it’s a damn good time at the movies … and it deffo made my list of fave films for 2010.

50 Cent Will Shovel Your Snow For $100

Earlier today, 50 Cent (née Curtis James Jackson, III) took some time out of his bizzy creepin’ around with comedienne Chelsea Handler schedule to announce to his legion of Twitter followers that he is making himself available to shovel people’s show for the low, low price of $100 … tho, it’ll cost you a bit [...]

The happily pregs Penélope Cruz was spotted out and about here in SoCal last week doing a bit of last minute shopping. Penélope took her burgeoning Baby Bump to the Ed Hardy store on Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood, CA … erm, I guess there is no accounting for taste.

Despite Penélope‘s OBVS bad taste in shopping habits, I still heart her entirely and cannot WAIT for her to bring forth the fruit of her loins. I love how pleasantly plump she is getting. Pregnancy looks very good on her. I can’t wait ’til she pops!! Wee!!!

Ryan Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson Are Dunzo!

Uh oh! We’ve got another celebrity break-up to discuss … and this one is even bigger than Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter‘s split. The very married Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have split up! Despite the fact that both Ryan and Scarlett have recently professed their love for one another in the press, TMZ [...]

I have safely and happily made my way back home from my frigid and snowy home state of Michigan to the warmer climes of California … and it feels good to be home. Even tho I had a lot of fun in Detroit, I really really REALLY hate the cold and the snow so … yeah, I was itching a bit to get back home. I did manage to bring a bit of my home with me to LA … my mom scrounged up my class rings, yearbooks and other school memorabilia so that I could bring them home with me:

I think I’m finally ready to ask David to go steady with me so … he’ll get to wear my high school class ring if he says yes. I know that many folks have asked for high school photos of me but I just can’t find the strength to embarrass myself like that just yet … maybe some day but, nope, not yet.

So yeah … I’m home again … and for a while ;) Tonight, David and I have tickets to see the Broadway musical Next to Normal which is in production here in LA for a few weeks:

We both saw it on Broadway in NYC last year but not together. He loved the show so much he wanted to see it again so … that’s what we’re doing! Happy Tuesday, y’all … it’s great to be home!!
